About Bill MacCallum

Since 1988, Bill has taught over 3000 of the City of Kawartha Lakes' teenagers. He has earned three degrees from Queen's University including Master of Education in math, science and technology curriculum for which he wrote an award-winning thesis. He has worked as a curriculum consultant for Trillium Lakelands District School Board and once taught at Queen's University Faculty of Education.

More recently, Bill has juggled being an educator with parenting Keith and Renee (both University students), as well as researching, writing, editing and life coaching. As the Green Coach, he has helped people locally and internationally live greener while saving their money. He continues to teach part-time at I.E. Weldon Secondary, commuting in an EV since 2012 which he powers up by plugging into the school's off-grid solar panels.

As well as being a volunteer coach for a number of different sports over the years, Bill has volunteered his time to fundraise and collect food products for Kawartha Foodhshare and A Place Called Home. He has been a staff advisor for a variety of clubs at I.E. Weldon, including their environmental club, and the staff representative on the School Council. A big advocate of the area's great farmers' markets, Bill is also well known at local farmstands. His wife Susan and he are avid hikers and cross-country skiers, and have experienced most of the trails throughout the district, from the Ganaraska Forest to Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park.

Enthused by Elizabeth May's honesty, integrity and intelligence, Bill believes we need to elect more Greens. Since joining the Green Party, he has become actively involved as the local Membership Chair. Bill chose the Green Party because he cares about improving both our economy and our environment. As your MP, your democratic interests will be his foremost concern.
